The digestive system plays an important role in the body, breaking down food so that it can be absorbed by the intestine, allowing the nutrients to be used by the body. Good digestion is essential for good health.

Poor digestion can result in many different problems including heartburn, indigestion, bloating, wind, constipation, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, poor appetite, weight loss and malnutrition. Malabsorption can lead to deficiencies in many nutrients and often occurs in conditions such as Coeliac Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease.

There are many things you can do to improve your digestion including eating a healthy diet, eliminating foods which exacerbate your symptoms, and adopting good eating habits. This includes sitting down and taking time to relax and enjoy your meals and avoiding overeating or eating when stressed or on the run.

If you suffer from digestive problems and would like some advice in modifying your diet, we can help you by developing an eating plan to suit your needs and lifestyle. For more information or to book at appointment, phone 9415 4845 or email reception@nnd.com.au
