Kate Marsh

Kate Marsh is an Advanced Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Credentialled Diabetes Educator, and the director of Northside Nutrition and Dietetics. Kate graduated with a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Sydney in 1995 and completed a Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Management in 1997. She has recently completed her PhD looking at the effects of Glycemic Index (GI) in the diets of women with PCOS and is co-author of The Low GI Guide to Managing PCOS, The Low GI Vegetarian Cookbook and Low GI Gluten-Free Living.
Kate works with clients with diabetes, PCOS, and those following a vegetarian diet. As a diabetes educator, she can also offer diabetes education to people with newly diagnosed diabetes, or those needing review of their diabetes education and management. Having had insulin-dependant diabetes for more than 25 years, Kate can provide a real understanding of the issues faced in the day to day management of diabetes.
Kate currently chairs the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) PCOS and Vegetarian Interest Groups. She is on the board of Diabetes Counselling Online, is on the editorial board for Diabetes Managment Journal and the magazine editorial advisory group for the ADEA (Australian Diabetes Educators Association). Kate writes regularly for a number of publications including Diabetic Living Magazine, Healthy Food Guide, Nature & Health and Everyday Health. She is a recipient of the DAA Young Achievers Award and was a NSW finalist in the 2006 Telstra Business Womens Awards.
Nerimah Twohill Quinn

Nerimah Twohill Quinn is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a Bachelor of Health Science and a Masters of Nutrition & Dietetics from The University of Sydney. She has also completed a Certificate III in Nutrition and Dietetics at TAFE as well as a Certificate III in Fitness through Fitness Institute Australia. Nerimah joined the practice in 2006 working as a nutrition/administrative assistant while completing her studies and has been working with us as a dietitian since 2008.
Nerimah works with a range of clients from children to the elderly, providing advice for weight management, insulin resistance, heart health, digestive disorders and general nutrition. She enjoys working with children and teenagers, and has a particular interest in sports nutrition and eating disorders. Having recently been diagnosed with Coeliac disease, she has developed a keen interest and expertise in this area. Nerimah is also passionate about the role of good nutrition for the elderly and takes care of our aged care facilities, conducting menu assessments, staff education and resident consultations. She also provides advice for nutrition-related conditions which become more common as we get older, including osteoporosis, arthritis and macular degeneration.
Melissa Franklin

Melissa Franklin is an Accredited Practising Dietitian who graduated with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) from The University of Wollongong in 2005, where she was awarded the University Medal from The Faculty of Health and Behavioural Science. Melissa has also completed a Graduate Certificate in Applied Management (Health) through the University of Newcastle and will be starting her Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Management at the University of Technology, Sydney in 2010. She has also undertaken additional training in health coaching.
Melissa has been working for the past 12 months as a lifestyle officer with the Central Sydney GP Network running a pilot program for preventing diabetes in those at risk. Prior to this she worked as a cardiac coach with NIB health fund and for 2 years as a clinical dietitian with Hunter New England Area Health. Melissa has a particular interest in chronic disease prevention and works with a range of clients providing advice on heart health, diabetes, insulin resistance, impaired glucose tolerance and weight management. Melissa is passionate about assisting clients towards making positive and sustainable dietary changes and has a particular interest in helping individuals to reduce non-hungry eating and move out of the vicious yo-yo dieting cycle.
